IAS exam is not very difficult, but it is very vast. Most aspirants don't realise it and therefore they start their preparation after their graduation. It takes them good 18 to 20 months just to cover the entire syllabus and optional properly and by that time they have already lost their one or two attempts and they get demotivated and depressed. Students end up taking multiple attempts putting their most important 20s at stake. Therefore, if civil services is your dream you should start your preparation well in time. A building is as strong as its foundation and same is true about UPSC IAS preparation. To crack this exam in the first attempt only, students from diverse backgrounds must have a strong foundation. In the foundation course, students start their preparation in +1, +2 or 1st year.
